Child Farm Fatalities

Child Farm Fatalities Project

The safety of children on farms is the focus of the work of the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety, located at the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin.  The Center is pleased that data show that overall injuries to farm children have decreased steadily over the last 14 years, although there has been a slight rise in injuries on farms to young, non-working children.

In Fall 2013, the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety provided funding to NCRPCD to collaborate with the National Children’s Center to evaluate current data in the NCRPCD Case Reporting System about child farm fatalities, to determine ways to enhance data about farm fatalities, and to increase the knowledge of Child Death Review programs about farm deaths and available prevention tactics.
